West Midlands Health and Wellbeing Innovation Network
WHAT IS THE WEST MIDLANDS HEALTH AND WELLBEING INNOVATION NETWORK?
We run challenge based innovation programmes that focus on sourcing, steering and developing solutions to problems within the healthcare market.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR WMHWIN?
Following a successful pilot programme in collaboration with University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire the WMHWIN is poised to develop an expanded innovation ecosystem in 2023 and beyond.
To do this WMHWIN will be significantly scaling the quantity of challenges from across the whole spectrum of Health Care. This will be in partnership with both businesses and regional and national NHS organisations. These new partnerships will unlock new opportunities and form a marketplace of NHS needs that we will seek to work with innovators to fulfil.
WHO ARE WMHWIN’S PARTNERS?
UHUK (formerly Urgent Health UK) is a partnership of non-profit and social enterprise healthcare providers and entrepreneurs serving over 55% of the UK population.
Our members provide an extensive and diverse range of clinically led and system critical Urgent Primary Care services, including but not limited to: • 111 • GP Out of Hours • Integrated Urgent Care Dental and Mental Health Services • Urgent Treatment Centres • Clinical Assessment Hubs • Emergency Dept Streaming • Primary Care Walk in Centres
HOW DO WE HELP UHUK INNOVATE?
The UHUK Innovation Programme will build in WMHWIN’s Open Innovation Programme method by solving challenges for a consortia of 10 UHUK organisations.
This multi-sponsor approach will unlock a host of opportunities such as creation of efficiencies between partners, pools of meaningful data to find and validate innovation opportunities and the foundations of a innovation marketplace in urgent health services.
The programme is a fantastic opportunity for innovators who have solutions to urgent health challenges to validate their products and services, larger businesses to explore how their innovations or infrastructure could enable the members to achieve their goals and data scientists to work with meaningful and real-time data feeds.
We bring together innovators, entrepreneurs, SMEs and corporate organisations. Working with academics, clinicians, health sector organisations, students, experts, alumni, suppliers and investors to make a difference to the health and wellbeing of the West Midlands.
