A fantastic opportunity for innovators and key stakeholders to provide solutions to support patient information.
The West Midlands Health and Wellbeing Innovation Network, part of the University of Warwick are running a challenge led innovation programme with University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW) which aims to provide a solution to digital consent and health inequalities.
The challenges facing UHCW will be representative of the issues facing every ICB in England. Therefore, this is a fantastic opportunity for SME’s to solve this challenge with potential to scale to market.
The challenges statements we are looking to solve are:
- How might we ensure our patients understand their procedure in a flexible and accessible way to consent and respect that by recording the process accurately?
- How might we provide information in varied formats in a culturally appropriate way that can be understood by all?
- How might we enable two way communication between patient and clinician to build confidence in the consent outcomes?
The programme is ideally looking for SME’s with solutions in the following areas:
- Digital consent solutions
- Digital translation services to automate language interpretation
- Accessibility tech, e.g. adjustments for reading and literacy ages, learning difficulties and disability, text to voice etc
- On-going patient and clinician access to relevant content during consent process
- Expertise in tech, health inequalities and accessibility for cultural needs within the consent process
- Digital delivery methods to support patient information
Our programme enables value exchange between innovators and key clinical and management stakeholders within UHCW with the potential for tangible and impactful outcomes for patients and staff. This programme is also underpinned by the University of Warwick’s academic excellence, innovation methodology and rich network of collaborators and partners.
Successful applicants may also be eligible for up to £20,000 grant funding through the WMHTIA, a collaborative network of expertise across industry, NHS and universities that will help pioneering businesses navigate the key stages of medical translation, funded through Innovate UK.
If you think you have a solution in any of these areas, please apply today.
