What is Our Network?

Our location at 1 Mill Street facilitates cross-disciplinary exchange, connecting the University with the UK’s largest creative cluster outside London to foster innovation and collaboration. We have led innovative and placemaking activities such as direct business support, 5G-powered esports centre in the Pump Rooms, community events during Commonwealth Games, R&D funding for small businesses, and challenge funding for societal issues.

  3. Work experience. We offer various work experience arrangements to suit different business needs and student availability:

    • Internships: Structured periods of work outside of studies, with agreed goals and objectives. These provide students with relevant professional experience while aligning with business needs.
    • Placements: Work experience integrated into academic degree courses. Students often complete assignments or progress reports alongside their tasks for the business.
    • Project Work and Consultancy: Collaborative projects between businesses and the University to solve problems, conduct research, or explore business decisions. These may be part of a course or linked to broader University research activities.
    • Casual Work: Part-time or temporary positions that can meet immediate business needs while offering students work experience. This can provide businesses with fresh skills and help build relationships with student cohorts.
  4. Support for Freelancers. We recognise the unique challenges freelancers face and are dedicated to providing tailored support to help you thrive in the creative industry, including guidance on business development and networking opportunities.

A programme that provides practical business advice on finding the right talent, accessing finance and grants, and securing workspace.

Who is it for?

The Mill Street Exchange is a collaborative initiative between the University of Warwick, Warwickshire County Council, and 1 Mill Street, aimed at supporting local businesses and entrepreneurs. This service is open to any business in the local area as well as Mill Street members.

  • Urban Garden: A flexible indoor venue available for University of Warwick staff to book
  • Coffee House: Ideal for informal meetings.
  • Meeting Rooms: Suitable for 8-12 people, at a discounted rate of £20 per hour.
  • Podcast Studio: Available to hire at the members rate of £50 per hour.
  • Phone Booths: Quiet spaces for video calls and meetings.
