West Midlands Health and Wellbeing Innovation Network are running a challenge led innovation programme with Hereford and Worcestershire ICB which aims to improve staff and patient experiences of the NHS continuing healthcare service (CHC), through delivering the service more more seamlessly and efficiently.

CHC is a package of care for adults which is arranged and funded solely by the NHS. In order to receive NHS CHC funding, individuals have to be assessed by integrated commissioning boards (ICBs) according to a legally prescribed decision making process to determine whether the individual has a ‘primary health need’.

The challenges facing Hereford and Worcestershire ICB’s CHC service are representative of the challenges facing every ICB in England. Therefore, this is a fantastic opportunity for innovators to solve this challenge with potential to scale to market.

The programme is looking for innovators with solutions in the following areas:

This is a unique opportunity for value exchange between innovators and key clinical and management stakeholders within the CHC service, with the potential for tangible and impactful outcomes for patients and staff. This programme is also underpinned by Warwick University’s academic excellence, innovation methodology and rich network of collaborators and partners. This programme is in partnership with West Midlands Health Tech Innovation Accelerator (WMHTIA), providing the opportunity for participating innovators to access up to £20k in prototyping funding.
