Warwick Innovations is the Technology Transfer Office and commercialisation arm of the University of Warwick. Our goal is to benefit society by enabling the innovations arising from the world-leading research at Warwick get into public use. Our role is to provide real-world expertise, advice and support services to the University’s academic innovators from any of Warwick’s departments, disciplines and interdisciplinary research groups and to guide the translation of innovation into society.

As the leading Midlands University for the successful creation of new spin-out companies, Warwick Innovations is now seeking a Business Development Manager to join its team.
The role involves developing strong relationships with the University’s researchers, with industrial, commercial and social enterprise partners and with investors and sponsors to help take the University’s intellectual property into use in society. You will manage a portfolio of about 20 projects in development, with responsibility for driving the knowledge exchange and translation aspects of up to 6 key projects at any one time. Your activities will include innovation assessment and development, mentoring, training, business planning, legal and contractual requirements, deal negotiation, budgeting, marketing, company set-up, grant funding, investment and recruitment of personnel.

To enable us to cover the wide range of research at Warwick we are not only looking for scientists or engineers with postgraduate degrees, significant commercial managerial experience and strong written communication and marketing skills, but also senior managers having arts, humanities or social sciences backgrounds. As we passionately believe in developing the business skills and societal networks of our researchers, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience in developing and delivering training programmes. Candidates looking to change careers into the public sector are particularly welcome.
